2024 Highlights

Thank you for an amazing year! We can’t wait to bring your stories to life in 2024!

Historic Everest Discovery!

Our most exciting news of the year was when Fisher Creative Founder/CEO Mark Fisher played a pivotal role in helping uncover new evidence about the fate of British mountaineer Andrew “Sandy” Irvine, one of the greatest unsolved adventure mysteries of all time.

While filming for a National Geographic documentary, Mark, alongside fellow filmmakers Erich Roepke, and Jimmy Chin, came across a boot and sock (photo by Jimmy Chin) containing human remains believed to be Irvine’s on the Central Rongbuk Glacier, just below Everest’s north face. This discovery brought new insights into the 100-year-old disappearance of Irvine, who vanished alongside his climbing partner George Mallory in June 1924 during an attempt to summit Everest for the first time.

Reflecting on the experience, Mark said: "It was such an incredible moment. To stand at that spot, realizing we were staring at a piece of history tied to such an enduring mystery—one that has persisted even after George Mallory’s body was discovered in 1999—was both humbling and surreal. Knowing that this may finally offer some closure to Irvine’s relatives makes it even more meaningful.”

Epic Whitewater Project!

For much of 2024, we’ve been working hard on an extensive project we still can’t say much about beyond sharing that it involves whitewater rivers and Idaho. To give a sense of scope, though, our team had 50+ days in the field on seven different rivers (including multiple forks on some), most of them involving multi-day overnight trips, alongside a super talented array of outfitters, guides, and whitewater legends who helped us pull it all off. Stay tuned for the reveals sometime in late spring or so of 2025.

Mission Green: Inspiring Global Action to Protect Our Forests

We’re thrilled to reveal an ambitious project we’ve been developing throughout 2024 in collaboration with renowned scientist Dr. “Canopy Meg” Lowman and her Mission Green initiative – a bold global effort working to protect the world’s most critical, highest biodiversity forests. The project is a call-to-action to safeguard Earth’s life-sustaining forests before it’s too late.

Fisher Creative is leading a multimedia storytelling project anchored by a feature-length documentary narrated by Jane Goodall to amplify the initiative’s impact. Mission Green (the film) is imagined as Planet Earth meets Hidden Figures meets An Inconvenient Truth – a visually stunning exploration of treetop biodiversity paired with Dr. Meg Lowman’s inspiring, barrier-breaking story and an urgent environmental warning with actionable solutions. Supporting content will include immersive 360 tree canopy experiences, educational programming, and more.

To launch this multimedia project, we’re seeking support for a time-sensitive seed project to be featured at the 2025 UN Climate Summit (COP 30) in Brazil. A Mission Green initiative project in Brazil’s Mata Atlântica Forest—the world’s most endangered forest—will serve as a powerful case study showcasing actionable solutions for forest loss to global leaders. This effort includes a short film (distinct from but aligned with the feature-length documentary) about the Mata Atlântica project to be screened at COP, accompanying presentations by Dr. Lowman, and a site visit for COP attendees.

WE NEED HELP TO MAKE THIS VISION A REALITY

Help catalyze a global movement to protect forests and secure a sustainable future for all. Your support will drive this effort at COP 30 and advance the broader Mission Green initiative and multimedia project. Visit missiongreenfilm.com to learn more and make a tax-deductible contribution.

Columbia Sportswear - Lost Trail Ski Area

Last spring, we had another incredible collaboration with long-time Fisher Creative partner Columbia Sportswear shooting campaign content for Columbia's latest Titanium ski performance line. The video and photo content produced celebrates the vibe of local mountain ski resorts and their communities. We had a ton of fun at the family-owned Lost Trail Ski Resort in the Bitterroot Mountains right on the Idaho and Montana border.

iFIT - Stories of Service: A Veterans Experience

In our ongoing creative partnership with iFIT producing immersive, home-based fitness programming, this year we collaborated on something entirely new for the platform: a series focused on the stories of veterans. Filmed at the height of fall colors in New York’s stunning Catskill Mountains, and released this past Veterans Day, the series dives into the stories of veterans and their journeys of service, sacrifice, and resilience while offering a poignant glimpse into the challenges they face as they transition back to civilian life.

New Unscripted Series in Development

In 2024, we began working to expand our footprint in unscripted television with several exciting projects in development. Among them is a formatted outdoor survival related show and a loud ensemble reality series featuring a dynamic cast of women in the outdoors industry as they navigate their interpersonal relationships, rivalries, and action-packed competition in a male-dominated sport. We look forward to sharing more  over the course of 2025!

Welcome to the Team - Cam, Sophie, and Scott

Fisher Creative welcomed three new team members in 2024. Cam Sammartano joined us as Vice President of Development and Production and is leading the effort to expand our footprint in unscripted television. Sophie Danison, who has been frequent collaborator in the past, joined us in a full-time role bringing her incredible skills as a director of photography, cinematographer, editor, and photography. And another long-time, frequent collaborator, Scott Rogers, did the same with his own chops as a director of photography, cinematographer, photographer, and aerial and rigging specialist.

In Pursuit of Passive

After its April world premiere at the International Passive House Conference in Innsbruck, Austria, followed by select screenings throughout the US, this past September we publicly released our short film In Pursuit of Passive. Produced in collaboration with Love|Schack Architecture , the film follows the journey of building the first net-zero, Passive House in the Grand Tetons-Yellowstone region—one of the most challenging climate zones in the United States. It's available to watch for free on Fisher Creative's YouTube channel.

Fisher Creative Films On-Demand

In August, we launched our Vimeo on-demand channel, where you can now rent or buy our past films A Rally for Rangers and Myanmar: Bridges to Change.

A Rally for Rangers follows the Rally for Rangers movement and its work helping under-equipped and often underappreciated park rangers around the world protect some of the most extraordinary places on the planet by empowering them with donated new motorcycles and equipment.

Myanmar: Bridges to Change follows a group of US and Burmese climbers as they travel 270 miles on foot through the farthest reaches of Myanmar to make a first ascent of Gamlang Razi, Southeast Asia’s disputed highest peak. Along the way they encounter villagers who had never before seen westerners and braved extreme weather conditions and an array of wild jungle creatures.
